Finally got around to watching the week 4 episode of The Biggest Loser.

Wow, what a freakin’ meltdown the Red Team had. I do have to wonder how much of that was real and how much of that was “made for TV”. I mean, come on, can you really see Ken bawling like a kid on side of the road?

And what was up with the “Kim is so senstive, tough, caring, understanding and even tougher” talk-a-thon? Geez, do you get the impression that NBC is trying to “sell” her the The Biggest Loser fans?

As usual, the Red Team won the challenge. The challenge basically consisted of who could stay on the escalator the longest. Pam, from the Red Team, won. She also won $10,000. The Red Team got to choose who on the Blue Team they would set out during the weight in.

I’m still a little confused about a statement Caroline Rhea made before the contestants started the Challenge. She said “The winner of the challenge gets to pick which member of the Blue Team that will set out during the Weigh In”.

From the people I talked too, that was taking one of two ways.

  1. It was a screwup on her part and she let the cat out of the bag by assuming the Red Team was going to win.
  2. Even if they had won, the “Reward” for the Blue Team would be to pick one of their own members to set out. I dunno, but that doesn’t sound much like a “Reward!”

At the weight in, the Red Team won when Ken posted a huge 10 lb weight loss, good for you Ken!

The Blue Team then sent Melinda home. Good. Her best week was last week when she lost 10 lbs. Other than that, she has been a lightweight (no pun intended) on the weigh ins. I thought she should have been sent home instead of Stephanie.

My Impression of the first 4 weeks.

Overall this season, I’m a little disappointed with the show. It just doesn’t have the same sizzle for me as the 1st two seasons. I’ve talked with others that feel the same way. I believe some of it has to do with the format and how they went about choosing the contestants. I’m still a little peeved on how they were treated the first day.

The other thing is the Red Team leader. Sure, Kim is a very fit and beautiful lady, but she is no Jillian Michaels when it comes to training! She try’s to play the “tough trainer” bit, but she just can’t pull it off. As I’ve said before, Bob and Jillian seemed to have that perfect chemistry. Bob was the big Teddy Bear type trainer and Jillian was more the Drill Sgt. That worked well for myself and many others.

Can you imagine what her reaction would have been when the Red Team was whining about the walk to the gate? She would have had her foot up someones butt!

Oh, so goes reality TV.

See ya next week, and keep taking of those pounds.
