Last nights episode wasn’t all that it was hyped up to be IMHO. The Biggest Loser Families went on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Contestants had to camp outside with one little exception. 1 Biggest Loser family would get to stay in a Jayco RV.
Of course when the contestants found out that they would have to be camping outside, the bitching and moaning started. Is this the most sissified Biggest Loser group yet or what?
Oh, and by the way, Bob and Jillian didn’t get to come along. This was one of those road trips where the trainers had to stay back at The Biggest Loser Ranch.
Before activities got underway though, we had to have an emotional speech from Alyson while the group was on the rim of the Grand Canyon. The speech was about how the river had carved out the Grand Canyon over a period of millions of years. She then tied this into their quest to lose weight, saying that little by little, over time they would be transformed just like the Grand Canyon had been transformed over all those years. Huuuummmm…anyone have any incense…let’s get back to camp and all sit around the fire and smoke a peace pipe and sing Kumbayah!
Well, it seems this group doesn’t do a whole lot outside. The way the show made it look, no one really knew how to do a workout outside. So they walked around the camp…and around…and around. Needless to say, it didn’t help any of them lose body fat.
Oh, did I forget to mention the opportunity to stop at a roadside store and pimp Extra gum? The Temptation Challenge consisted of The Biggest Loser Contestants trying to guess how many calories their favorite snacks had. The ones who got closest without going over won a pack of Extra gum. The first Biggest Loser Family to win 3 packs got to stay in the Jayco RV.
Now that the product pimping was out of the way, it was on the campground. Basically the show made it look like this group did nothing but wander around aimlessly without any direction.
The next challenge took place in the River. The Biggest Loser Contestants paired up into their family teams. One had to row a Kayak out as far as they could in 2 minutes. After that, the other team member on dock had to start pulling other teams back to dock.
It was quite hilarious watching some of the Biggest Loser team members trying to paddle their kayaks. I tell ya, these people live a very sheltered life!
Ed and Heba won the challenge. For their win, they won the Jayco RV. Probably the best product ever given away on The Biggest Loser, certainly a lot better than a pack of Extra gum!
Once they got back to the Ranch, the trainers got a hold of them for the Last Chance workout. Jerry developed a hamstring pull during one of the workouts and was sent to the hospital for a check up because the medical team at the Ranch thought he might have a blood clot.
I don’t know if anyone has ever had a hamstring pull, but they can be very painful. It was pretty obvious that this would hamper Jerry’s workouts and put this Father Daughter Team in jeopardy of falling below the Yellow Line.
But wait! Alyson had a surprise for The Biggest Loser Families at the weigh in! She dropped the bombshell that no one would be voting on who to eliminate this week. Instead, the Team who fell below the Yellow Line would have to choose between the two who was going home!
Gasp…shock…shazaam!
Can you smell what’s coming?
Yeah…when I heard that, I knew Jerry was going back home to his cottage cheese diet!
Was it just a coincendence that Jerry just happened to have a hamstring pull in same week that the Team falling below the Yellow Line would have to choose a member to go home? Or did the producers of The Biggest Loser make this happen after seeing Jerry get hurt?
You make the call!
Poor Jerry. He gained 3 pounds at the weigh-in, but it wasn’t really a surprise to anyone. The good news is that Coleen, his daughter, remained on the show.
My Wife and I were discussing about how Jerry had to in the worst health of any contestant to every be on The Biggest Loser. It’s remarkable to see what only a few weeks of good nutrition and exercising can do for your body. Hey peeps, until next week, keep on shedding those pounds!
