Well, due to Hurricane Ike, I was without power for over a week. Needless to say, my TiVo didn’t tape The Biggest Loser Families Premier. I did get to watch it tonight though. I was glad to see Bob and Jillian back as trainers and I’m not crying that Kim Lyons did not return!
Of course, many other things stayed the same for this season of The Biggest Loser Families. Things like the annoying product placements. Scenes of Biggest Loser contestants eating Extra gum and choking down SubWay sandwiches are some things I can do without.
I can also do without the way they always cut to a commercial with stunned looks on the faces of the trainers or contestants. Trying to bait us into thinking one thing and then coming back showing another. Do they think after all these years that The Biggest Loser viewers are kids?
What I’m most annoyed about is they way they cut to a commercial and then come back after the commercials and rehash the last few minutes before they went to a commercial to begin with! This is called fluff and stuff. They get to add a few meaningless minutes to the program instead of showing unique film.
I think overall this years contestants on The Biggest Loser Families is a good one. As I said before, I didn’t get to see last week, so I don’t know anything about the couple who got cut.
I was shocked to see the Yellow Team bet they could beat the Week 2 average of 2 percent of body weight.
As someone that goes to a lot of auctions, I see people getting caught up in the bidding process all the time. This is exactly what happened to the Yellow Team. They let common sense go out the window and the girl let her heart do the thinking. They nearly paid with it by going home.
This weeks challenge on the giant slip and slide looked fun until I saw them sliding off of the ends of the slide. This brought back painful childhood memories of grass burns! Fun to watch, but I’m glad I didn’t have to do that.
Personally, I could do without Chef Rocco. Hey, just give us some recipes and cooking tips. Other than that, he’s boring and it’s just another way that The Biggest Loser fills the show with fluff to sell more advertising space.
All I care about watching is some of the workouts, challenges and show me some good gossip about the contestants. Then I want to see the weigh ins. That’s it. Forget about Chef Rocco and the other fluff that is sure to come in the upcoming weeks. I don’t want to see the Trainers and Contestants stand there 15 minutes handwashing each little bit of food they eat.
At this weeks weigh in, it was the Grey Team that fell below the Yellow line. Tom lost 3 pounds, but L.T. added 3 pounds. This isn’t surprising seeing that it’s week 2 and the body fights back a little bit.
The Yellow Team was below the Yellow Line, but only because they didn’t meet the mark of losing 2.4 percent like they had bid on.
At the Elimination, the Orange team buried a knife in the Grey Team’s back. I don’t really care what the reasoning was, they didn’t keep their word. End of story.
I was shocked to see that both Tom and L.T. had lost over 80 pounds in 4 months. They will be a force to be reckoned with at The Biggest Loser Families finale. Next week, we’ll continue to follow the Yellow Team and see how they fare.
