When I first started watching The Biggest Loser and decided I could lose weight successfully like the contestants, I went looking for information on the Internet about diets, healthy weight loss, exercise techniques and support.
For the most part, I found all of that, in about as many blogs, forums and personal web pages.
For example, if I wanted to try some diets, I had a couple websites and blogs about weight loss diets bookmarked. If I wanted to change my exercise up, I had other bookmarks for that.
I had The Biggest Loser DVD and Cookbook, but I still felt like I needed more of something, I just wasn’t sure of what!
Then The Biggest Loser Club came along. I debated several weeks of whether or not to plunk down my 19 bucks. Finally, after surfing all the sites I had bookmarked for a specific topic I was searching for, I joined to see what it was all about.
Within minutes I found the information I was looking for!
What I liked best was the weight loss tracker. Each week I logged in and entered my weight. It graphed my success (and failures) so I could see how I was doing.
I also found a huge data base of recipes. These were not your usual recipes, with ingredients you never heard of, or worse, ingredients you’d never buy to begin with, but these were recipes I could fix quickly and they were healthy for me. Many of these recipes came from the contestants their self! My favorite for a long time was Ryan’s Portebella Mushroom Pizza!! (it’s still up there..lol)
The recipes also gave you the amount of fat, calories and other nutritional information you need to make educated decisions concerning your weight.
Then there are the Forums. Talk about support. I found a few of the people there to be a little rude at first. But as with any good forum, it didn’t take long for the good people to weed out the rude and ill mannered ones. Sure, you’ll still have flare ups, that will happen with any community, but on The Biggest Loser Club, it’s kept in check.
I can not begin to count the number of helpful tips and techniques some of the Forum members gave me. When I hit a two week plateau, they were there offering me support and good advice to get through it!
The members on the Forums are not some stuck up skinny trainer types who’ve never been overweight in their lives. Many of them are just like you and me. They’re either overweight now and working to get it off or the have been overweight and have won the battle of obesity and are working to keep their weight off.
The “atmosphere” on The Biggest Loser Club is like one you’d have around close friends or family. It’s like you know everyone there is going through what you are and they’re going to take care of you. I’ve been on some other weight loss Forums where it seemed they didn’t want you there unless you worked out 8 hours per day and had 3% body fat!
UPDATE:
I went and tried the Celebrity Fit Club and found that I like it as well, if not more so than the Biggest Loser club.
I think the offer a better overall package than The Biggest Loser Club.
