Week 5 - Season 5 of The Biggest Loser

I love TiVo! I was finally able to watch Week 5 of Season 5 of The Biggest Loser and boy was it a good one! I have to say, Season 5 of The Biggest Loser has been one of the best for me. It ranks right up there with Season 2 when Matt and Suzy were on The Biggest Loser.

This week, the show split the groups into two teams. The way the teams were decided was a Challenge between the trainers. Bob and Jillian had to run up escalators. The first one to do it 10 times got to pick their teams. Haahaaa…I told everyone watching that as soon as I saw those escalators and Alyson said there’d be only two people compteting, that it would be Bob and Jillian!

Bob Harper - Extreme Competitor?

And what a challege it was! I was more than surprised that Bob smoked Jillian though! Did anyone see that coming? Not only did he lap her, he lapped her like 3 times! Damnit!

I actually saw a little competitive side of Bob in that race. However, it wouldn’t be the last time viewers would see the competitive side of Bob!

For winning the trainer challenge, Bob got to pick 3 Teams. This is where Bob really surprised me, but it shouldn’t have. I might also say many people were upset at Bob for the teams he picked.

Bob Harper - Gamer

I’ll just say this. Bob has got his ass smoked in the last several years, except when Jillian wasn’t a trainer. He wants one of his people to win The Biggest Loser. And he wants them to win it Bad, real bad. As Jillian said “Bob has blood in his mouth!”

I never thought Bob would have picked the teams he did. Funny, but since he did pick them, I kinda respect Bob more. Bob picked the big losers - Black, Grey and Orange teams, leaving Jillian with the poorer performers.

Hey, you people whining about how Bob chose teams or how the contestants play the game…wake up. IT IS A GAME WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! I think this week showed that Bob realized it WAS a Game and not some happy go lucky - feel good - let’s all sit around the campfire singing Kum Ba Yah while the fat melts off show.

It’s a game and Bob Harper is a Gamer! I love it. Now Bob, I never want to hear you scold anyone for how they play the game, ever again!

At the end of the day, Bob wants to win just as bad as anyone. And he showed that when he threw those other teams under the Biggest Loser bus!

I’ll say this also. I think Jillian loves being an underdog. This has two advantages. If she wins, she wins BIG. If she loses, oh well, I had the poor performers. Yeah, Jillian is a Gamer too and she likes to fly under the radar if she can.

Blue vs Black Challenge

The new teams had their challenge also. It’s the same escalator challenge we say in years past. The big talk was among Jillians Black Team, how they had felt dissed and they were going to prove to Bob what bad asses they really were.

If you’ve watched The Biggest Loser for any amount of time, you know when someone talks smack like that, they end up eating their words.

This was no different. All Black Team members had gave up after about 20 minutes on the escaltors. There were still 3, yes count them again, 3 Blue team members on the escalators when the last Black Team member gave up. Score a win for the Blue Team.

The Weigh In

At the weigh in, the Blue Team was up first and put up some good numbers, except perhaps the original Black Team. They both posted a 5 lb weight loss. That’s to be expected since they had big numbers last week.

However, the really big surprise was the Black Team. Britney had a 3lb weight loss which surprised everyone. Kelly lost zilch…zero…nadda! However, Big Paul, hoss of last weeks show actually GAINED 3 pounds. Paul…what the hell?

Needless to say, this sent the Black Team to the Elimination room where most everyone believed Jenn needed to go home. {insert sobs and tears here}

Anyone Else Notice?

I just wanted to bring up one other thing. I have to say, I never noticed this, even after it was pointed out. However, my Wife along with several other people on the Internet forums have stated that it seems that Jillian is givng Britney a “leeetle eexxtra” attention lately. Anyone else noticed that or am I dealing with a bunch of paronoid women?
