Most people know the benefits of berries in your diet. Cranberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc. have long been know to contain beneficial anti-oxidants and essential vitamins and minerals for the human body. One berry most people have not heard much about until lately is the Acai berry. The Acai berry is a native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. It has only been recently that the Acai berry has been getting favorable press here in the U.S.

I started seeing the Acai berry talked about in News segments on TV and then someone told me Oprah was talking about it. So I knew I had to find out more about this berry!

Many websites state the benefits of the Acai berry, everything from arthritis pain relief to weight loss. One website had a excerpts from a University of Florida study that showed the effects that Acai berry had on leukemia cells. It sounded good, but I would like to see the entire study for myself. But back to my diet, obviously it was the weight loss benefits I was most interested in right now along with the general health benefits.

I’m always on the look out for healthy items to put into my diet. Not only for the health benefits, but also for a good change up. Eating the same foods over and over can get boring after a while. This is why some people fail on their diets. Food burnout.

I’m a big believer that nature has many remedies for sickness and diseases that affect us humans. So when I started hearing about the Arcai berry, I started checking into it.

Mona Vie, My First Experience With The Acai Berry

The first experience I had with the Arcai berry was when a bottle of Mona Vie. A fellow I had do some car repair was a distributor for the product and gave me a bottle to try.

The product sounded interesting so I decided to give it a try. I started taking two ounces in the mornings. After a couple of days I couldn’t tell any difference. So I began taking an additional two ounces of monavie in the evenings.

After a few days, I did feel a little better. However, I never felt bad to begin with! So I’m not sure if it was the MonaVie or me thinking I was feeling better, when I wasn’t feeling bad to begin with!

I have to admit, I drink a lot of Cranberry juice. The benefits of the Cranberry are long and well documented. So I may have been ahead of the curve. All the documentation on the Acai berry I’ve seen have stated that it’s suppose to more beneficial than the Cranberry.

After just a little over a week I finished the bottle. During that time I checked Mona Vie’s website and others researching the product.

The one factor that cause me not to continue using Mona Vie is the price. At about $40 per bottle, it was just too expensive for me to use. 4 ounces a day would mean I’d be drinking about a bottle a week. That can add up real fast!

Searching For Alternatives to MonaVie

I figured since the Acai berry was catching on, there had to be some alternatives to Mona Vie. Although I’m not a big “supplement” person, believing you can get nearly all the nutrients you need with the proper diet, I started researching the ones I could find on the market.

My local health food had one brand. A brand I’d never heard of, and quite honestly, it looked like it had once been bottled as something else…so I passed and looked elsewhere for a place to buy Acai.

I then started searching online for an Acai berry supplement or another Acai berry juice. I found several that interested me so I dug deeper into each brand. If they had free samples, I ordered them.

After about three days I started noticing that I had a little bit more pep in my workout and during the day. Again, you have to remember, I didn’t feel bad to begin with! LOL

I continued to take the Acai berry supplement until the bottle was gone. I still felt great and was actually going a little extra time on my workouts.

Did I lose Weight with the Extreme Acai Berry Supplement?

Well, yes I did. However, I’ll tell you that I average losing about a pound a week since I lost the bulk of my weight and went into maintenance mode. Some weeks I lose a pound, some weeks I might gain a pound while other weeks I remain the same.

During the time I was using my free sample of the Extreme Acai Berry Supplement, I did notice a slightly better than average weight loss. I don’t think the supplement alone is the cause for my better than average weight loss. Or maybe it was. I did extend my workouts a few minutes more on a daily average since I was feeling so darn good.
