The Biggest Loser Show Recaps PLUS Helpful Tips To Lose Weight

Star Jones Gastric Bypass Surgery was no surprise to most of us. We just needed her to confirm it! She did just that today when she announced that, yes, she did have gastric bypass surgery! Star Jones said she has gastric bypass surgery in August of 2003 but was afraid to admit it because of what people would think of her.

The former member of “The View” said that she gained 75 pounds in 17 months. Jones also said that her out of control behaviour was due to lonliness.

A recent Australian study suggest that the Mediterranean Diet may actually help diabetics. The traditional Mediterranean Diet consist of eating foods such as vegetables, fruit and fish with less red meat.

The study found that Mediterranean immigrants to Australia had a lower death rate from heart disease than native Australians. This prompted the group to study the diet patterns of those migrating to Australia from the Mediterranean.

The 10 year study consisted of approximately 40,000 men and women. About a quarter of the people involved in the study were from the Mediterranean. The study used a questionare to calculate the food intake of fruits, vegetables and meats. You can find the published report by clicking here.

I have to admit it, I love those little packaged energy bars. Unfortunately for me there are two problems with them. They’re expensive and they contain a lot of fat and calories. I’ve been trying several homemade energy bar recipes and have come up with a few energy bar recipes that I like well. Yes, they’re still high in fat and calories, as compared to some other “health” food, but I’m active and use up the calories and fat.

The last “The Biggest Loser” blog carnival was such a success, I decided to hold another one. I hope everyone enjoys the great post that other bloggers have submitted. I know I learned quite a bit from the last blog carnival entries.

This group of entries looks like it will be just as interesting and useful.

Welcome to the July 16, 2007 edition of the biggest loser carnival.

How The Biggest Loser Is Saving Lives

Season 1 of The Biggest Loser was a smash hit. Yet many people thought that the weight loss by the folks at the ranch was not typical of what could be expected with a strict diet and exercise.

Then came Season 2 of The Biggest Loser and we watched Matt go from a big fat guy to a slim and fit hunk. We also watched many of his team mates lose huge amounts of weight, including his future wife, Suzy.
